I am a visual artist  working in New York City. Live models are my starting point for expressing my reaction to light, form, movement and emotions at a single, fleeting moment in time. I’m interested in exploring the tension between realistic depiction and abstraction and play with the viewer’s willingness to complete the picture and interpret the scene. Having worked for many years as a graphic designer intent on relaying a very specific set of messages to viewers, I’m now intent on leaving the message or story fragmented and open to multiple interpretations. I’m influenced by other artists who have moved between realistic and abstract figures such as Baselitz, de Kooning, and Kirkeby as well as musicians like Sonic Youth and Deerhunter, who are equally intent on channeling their reactions into open-ended soundscapes.
